SOLD – Kiyoshi Yamaya EP – Ryukyu (2022)

Excellent EP from arranger Kyoshi Yamaya and Contemporary Sounds Orchestra. Those four tracks were taken from three magnificent LPs : on the A side from “Ryukyu” and on the B side from “Shakuhachi The Ballads Of The Sea” and “Shakuhachi The Ballads Of The Village”, all from 1976.

Expect traditional Japanese vibes blended with funk and jazz rock, all recorded with top session musicians including Kifu Mitsuhashi on bamboo flute and Kiyoshi Sugimoto on guitar among others.

A unique 7 inch release that serves as an appetizer for those most exquisite and very (very) rare albums.
