Umi No Toriton TV BGM OST LP – Hiromasa Suzuki (2020)

Composer and jazz pianist Hiromasa Suzuki was another one of those leading music figures in Japan at the time. The author and contributor to many jazz and funk LPs, he also did his part in the anime genre. One of his most influential and remarkable works is what he did with the 1972 shonen TV anime Toriton series. Created by the legendary Osamu Tezuka (Astro Boy, Belladonna of Sadness…), the series is mostly unknown in Europe but the music should be as it’s a brilliant mix of jazz, funk and psych, making this compilation a great introduction to anime background music.
