SOLD – Norio Maeda & All-Stars LP – Rock Communication (2017)
When I started selling Japanese records and music, I knew I was in for a personal treat record after record stocked in the shop. I got hold of excellent stuff but I never expected that one record was going to top them all, by far. And by that I mean pretty much all of the records of my entire collection! (and I have some good stuff believe me) It’s up there in the top 5.
This is one record I have been listening almost every day since I got it. It’s basically traditional Japanese songs reworked with a jazz-funk or jazz-rock feel. Brilliantly produced and arranged, all instrumental tracks are unique and have something almost magical to them (in my eyes anyway). Producers will fall all over themselves as it’s loops and samples galore. I’m doing that every time I listen to it that’s how stupidly good it is…
If you find the price of this reissue a little high I can tell you the 1970 original reaches a minimum of five times that amount and that is if you can locate one in good shape which is very unlikely.
This is the only official reissue and long out-of-print. This copy is stone Mint.
Now it’s time to listen to the full LP HERE.
