SOLD – Charming Hit Album 10 LP – Various Artists (Late 60’s)
What a killer LP! Released in a series of at least 15 LPs from 1970 to 1971 in Japan as mail order only, not sold in the shops. This album is the tenth album of the series and all of the tracks are Japanese traditional music (民謡/minyo). Old folk tunes are reworked as funk/jazz-rock/big band/latin.
Bands include Jimmy Takeuchi & His Exciters, Yasunori Nakajima & Latin Rhythm Kings, Nobuo Hara and His Sharps & Flats and Hachidai Nakamura And His New Sounds Orchestra.
The thick cardboard sleeve comes with an attached 11-page booklet full of beautiful color pictures and a dark red vinyl. One of my personal favorites!
